Everyone needs to love themselves as best as they can, but this is not something that always comes easily.
However, it is hugely important. If you are able to love yourself, this will mean that you are empowered to live your life fully and with much greater interest.
But in our culture, self-love is all too often in short supply, and the results of this can be truly devastating.
In this post, we are going to look at some of the clear-cut signs that you may not be loving yourself enough – and discuss what you might be able to do about it.

Very often, you are going to work out how you are treating yourself simply by looking at how you feel within. And there are certain feelings that are particularly strong signs that you might not be loving yourself as fully as you could be.
One such feeling is a lack of freedom.
Everyone deserves to feel free, and if you don’t then there is probably something going on with how you approach yourself and think about yourself.
Essentially, if you don’t feel free to do what you want in life, you are probably holding yourself up to someone else’s standards, or to society’s standards in general. Conversely, if you feel truly able to do what you want, then you are probably engaging with yourself in a loving and free way, in which case keep on doing that as best as you can!
You Engage In Harmful Habits
Self-harm comes in many forms, and often it is a subtle and pernicious beast that you might not even be aware of consciously. Many of us harm ourselves in physical and mental ways through choosing the wrong deeds, and when those deeds solidify into habits it can really mess up how you are approaching yourself.
So, looking at it from the other side, we can reliably say that if you are engaging in some harmful habits, and you have identified them as such, that is a sure sign that you might not be loving yourself fully.
So what can you do?
Well, you can either try to love yourself more and see if that helps, or you can attack the habits themselves. Whether that means going to a rehab facility or simply trying to change up your morning routine, it’s all going to help, and it will ensure that you are leading your life as you are meant to.
Of course, you can also approach this from both angles at once – overcoming your unhelpful habits while also learning to love yourself more.
Self-expression is a crucial cornerstone of self-love. If you are finding it hard to express yourself clearly and fully, that is a sure sign that you are not giving yourself the care and attention you deserve. Often a lack of ability to express oneself comes from a feeling that you don’t matter, or that you are not worthy somehow. These issues can have their roots in childhood, and sometimes it requires some therapy to uncover them successfully. But if you are trying to do this, bear in mind that it can take some time.
In the meantime, simply try to do whatever you can to feel able to express yourself more fully. You’ll find that this is really beneficial in general.
You Don’t Spend Quality Time Alone
Many people in our culture today do not spend enough time alone. Quality alone time is really important, and you should do all you can to make sure that you carve out some time for yourself in this manner as best as you can.
If you are not spending time alone often enough, it can be hard to know who you really are and what you care about. Over time, this means that you lose a sense of yourself, often getting caught up in other people and events and situations. That is not healthy, and it’s certainly not self-love.
So, be sure to spend as much time alone as you feel is necessary. And make sure it is quality time – that means doing something you really enjoy, rather than simply sitting around watching television or whatever.
As long as you are spending quality time alone, you will be able to love yourself so much more easily and readily, mostly because you will know what you are really all about.
Now you.
If you have any of these signs in your life, be sure to do all you can to turn things around, and try to love yourself again.
So, how do you show love to yourself?
